Acupuncture - Herbal Medicine Somatic Experiencing

  • Acupuncture

Acupuncture is a therapy that has been used for centuries to treat a wide range of conditions and symptoms. It uses tiny, sterilized, single-use needles that are inserted along specific points on the body to stimulate a systemic response. This response helps to activate the body’s built-in healing mechanisms to alleviate the symptoms of disease that can make day-to-day living uncomfortable.

  • Somatic Experiencing

This body-oriented approach to healing trauma is based on the work of Dr. Peter A. Levine and Alaine Duncan, LAc, SEP. The SE approach is a therapeutic model used to treat traumatic stress, including PTSD and the wounds of emotional and early developmental attachment trauma. It offers a framework to assess where a person is “stuck” in the fight, flight or freeze responses, and provides clinical tools to resolve these fixated physiological states. Kaylie’s work is an integration of the Somatic Experiencing model and the principles of East Asian Medicine. Learn more about Somatic Experiencing (SE) here.

  • Herbal Medicine

Just like acupuncture, herbal medicine has been used for thousands of years to treat a wide range of conditions. Herbal formulas are selected based on the pattern that the patient is presenting. Rather than just treating symptoms, we look at the whole individual and treat both the symptoms and the root cause. Here are some of the common conditions that can be treated effectively with herbal medicine: Allergies, Anxiety, Depression, Digestive Issues, Fatigue, Immune System Regulation, Infertility, Insomnia, Irritable Bowel Syndrome (IBS), Irregular Menstrual Cycle, Menstrual Pain, Reproductive Conditions, Upper Respiratory Conditions, and many more.

  • Hormone Regulation / Fertility Support

Both acupuncture and herbal medicine have been used for centuries to improve fertility for all gender identities. More and more scientific research is being conducted proving its effectiveness, both alone or in conjunction with Western medicine. Acupuncture and herbs can be useful at any and all stages of your fertility journey. There isn't a one size fits all treatment in Traditional East Asian Medicine. Two people could be undergoing IVF or IUI and their treatment plan prior to and after transfer could vary greatly depending on their fertility type. Even without western medical intervention, each person is treated on a case by case basis determined by fertility type, present symptoms, health history, and blood work/ lab values.
